Polemica sul provvedimento Trump contro i clandestini, sono almeno 2mila i bambini che sono stati separati dai genitori a seguito del varo da parte dell’amministrazione presidenziale per la nuova politica di ‘tolleranza zero’
che conseguentemente ha determinato l’arresto di tutti i migranti che provano a superare il confine tra Messico e Stati Uniti.
Si parla di almeno 2000 bambini, lo dice il Portavoce
E’ stato il portavoce del dipartimento della Sicurezza Interna, Jonathan Hoffman, a dare i primi dati dell’applicazione di questa controversa politica: dal 19 aprile allo scorso 31 maggio sono stati 1995 i bambini separati da 1940 adulti con i quali avevano attraversato il confine.
Il dato si riferisce al periodo dal 19 aprile al 31 maggio, con lʼentrata in vigore della politica di tolleranza zero dellʼamministrazione Trump contro lʼimmigrazione clandestina.

I’m Red Bull, Gentiloni is camomile tea says Renzi

Rome, January 30 – Ex-premier and Democratic Party (PD) leader Matteo Renzi likened Premier Paolo Gentiloni to camomile tea and himself to a Red Bull energy drink but denied mayor differences in an interview published Tuesday by newspaper Il Foglio. “Gentiloni is like camomile? Then I am a Red Bull – but we won’t fight”, Renzi said discussing the situation in his party and beyond ahead of national elections on March 4. He also said he thinks the project to form the left-wing Free and Equal (LeU) party led by Senate Speaker Piero Grasso, a former PD member, has no future. The LeU features many former PD members who left the party due to hostility towards its leader, such as ex-premier Massimo D’Alema, whom Renzi said in the interview has two objectives: “making a comeback to be part of the game, conquering a seat in parliament” and “regaining hold of the left, trying to destroy the leadership”. Renzi also said his party would campaign for the election “on the attack” rather than on the defensive “well aware that sometimes when you play on offense you let in a few goals”.

Rome, January 26 – The rising number of violent attacks by youth gangs operating in Italy must be addressed through measures that do not include only repression, the head of Italy’s supreme court said in inaugurating the new judicial year on Friday. Ever more “violent, unmotivated aggression by very young people against their peers” is alarming, First President of the Court of Cassation Giovanni Mammone said. Simply dealing with it through repressive means had proven ineffective, he noted, but added that it was necessary to bring in “unifying legislation” that would prevent the splitting up of crimes that leads to lesser sentences.

New contract for 450,000 in Italian security and defence

Rome, January 26 – Almost half a million Italians working in the security and defense sectors of Italy’s public administration now have a new contract. Some 450,000 “men and women who every day ensure the control, protection and security of us all and our territory” will now be receiving a higher monthly paycheck, Civil Service Minister Marianna Madia announced on Twitter overnight after the contract was signed. “No contract had been agreed for the past 9 years,” she said on Friday in a press conference. “I believe that this is a very important achievement. It is not a one-off payment. “There will be a monthly rise of around 125 euros for the armed forces and 132 for the police. “In addition, there is the back pay that will come in as soon as possible: about 556 euros for the police and 517 for the armed forces.” Madia added that three other public administration contracts were being worked on. “There are the conditions to renew contracts for all state employees, of whom there are about 1.2 million,” she said.

San Gimignano (Siena), January 26 – A private partner is being sought in Europe to help breathe new life into the San Domenico complex, a 14th-century former convent that was used as a jail until 1993 in San Gimignano near the Tuscan city of Siena. The call for proposals was made by the city council and the Tuscan regional government, which became owners of the complex after the cost-free transfer from state-owned property holdings. The call will run through May 31 and calls for a 22.3-million-euro investment for the restoration of the complex, which encompasses about 10% of the historical center of San Gimignano. The concession will last 70 years. The project calls for up to a third of the buildings potentially being used as lodgings and the other two thirds as spaces for cultural activities such as museums, exhibition and conference halls as well as routes focusing on archaeological and landscape heritage. There will be space set aside for performance activities and for highlighting territorial identity and Tuscan food and self-care products. The proposal will be judged on the basis of both the project proposal and its management as well as the solidity of the financial investment plan. “This is an almost 30-year dream for San Gimignano residents that is beginning to come true. We ask the market and the private entrepreneurial world to work with this dream and this challenge: to make what was a place of exclusion for centuries into a place for the highest possible inclusion,” stressed San Gimignano Mayor Giacomo Bassi in presenting the call for proposals to the public. “This is a large culture-related challenge to restore places that were closed for centuries to the public,” Deputy Regional Governor Monica Barni said, who is tasked with cultural matters. She then underscored the work that led to the creating of the project and the EU-wide call for proposals, saying it was “a long and challenging journey that developed through dialogue between the regional government, the town council and all the institutions involved. In the end, what we are presenting is the first case of state-owned property being transferred to local and regional authorities.”

Tajani wd be ‘great’ as premier candidate-Berlusconi (3)

Rome, January 25 – Ex-premier and center-right leader Silvio Berlusconi on Thursday said European Parliament President Antonio Tajani, a member of his Forza Italia (FI) party, would be an excellent choice for prime minister ahead of national elections on March 4. “I don’t have political ambitions, I want to win and choose the premier and government team with my allies”, said the 81-year-old leader in an interview to radio Rtl 102.5. Tajani would be a “wonderful choice”, if possible, “highly esteemed at a European level”. Berlusconi’s Forza Italia party is running with Matteo Salvini’s anti-immigrant, anti-euro League and Giorgia Meloni’s small nationalist Brothers of Italy (FdI) party in the election. Salvini is the League’s premier candidate. Berlusconi cannot stand because of an office ban, stemming from a tax-fraud conviction, that runs until next year. He has appealed to the European Court of Human Rights to try to get the ban lifted. But the ECHR is not expected to rule before March 4.

ROMA, 24 GEN – Alle prossime elezioni in Italia “non trionferanno i populisti e gli anti europei”. Lo ha detto il Premier, Paolo Gentiloni, in una intervista al’la Cnbc a Davos, secondo quanto riferisce Bloomberg, auspicando una vittoria del centro sinistra. “Per rispondere direttamente alla sua questione, no. Non sarei interessato” a formare una coalizione con il centro destra guidato da Silvio Berlusconi, ha detto inoltre il premier, aggiungendo “speriamo che non sia questo il caso e che il centro sinistra che rappresento abbia la maggioranza. In ogni caso penso che saremo il pilastro di una possibile coalizione”.

Government OKs accord on new public employee contract

Rome, January 19 – The government has approved an agreement on a new national collective contract for public employees, sources told on Friday. The agreement was forged on December 23 by unions and ARAN, the agency that negotiates on behalf of Civil Service Minister Marianna Madia. The draft contract now needs a green light from the Audit Court. Madia on Friday tweeted that the cabinet has approved the payment of arrears and salary increases under the new contract.

Turin prosecutor decries national police chief’s words

Turin, January 18 – The prosecutor general of Turin, Francesco Saluzzo, on Thursday called thinly veiled criticism of the Turin office by Italy’s police chief “unacceptable”. National police chief Franco Gabrielli, in responding to questions on a circular he has issued on safety and security responsibilities, made clear reference to an incident in a soccer-watching Turin square last summer that had led to the death of one woman and injuring of 1,526 others. “When serious incidents occur,” he said, “the judge looks for a safe position and often the police chief is the one blamed. Turin docet (‘teaches’). And thus we have said enough is enough. We are tired of being the ‘fig leaf’ for responsibilities that are not ours.” Turin Police Chief Angelo Sanna is among those being probed for a stampede that injured the 1,500 in the northern city’s San Carlo Square when a crowd panicked while watching the Champions League final between local team Juventus and Real Madrid. Several other people including Turin Mayor Chiara Appendino are under investigation in the probe. Last month Turin Prefect Renato Saccone was also placed under investigation. In reaction to Gabrielli’s words, Saluzzo said that there was no “will to hastily blame high-ranking representatives of the police” and said that there had been “very meticulous” work done to identify who should be put under investigation.

Selinunte temple columns up within 7 months, says Sgarbi

Trapani, January 18 – Vittorio Sgarbi, Regional Councillor for Cultural Heritage of the Sicilian Region, has said that the first columns of Selinunte’s Temple G would begin going up within the next seven months. Selinunte was an ancient Greek city on the southwestern coast of Sicily and its temples are now referred to by letters. The archaeological site contains five temples centered on an acropolis. Of the five temples, only the Temple of Hera, also known as “Temple E”, has been re-erected. At its peak before 409 BC the city may have contained up to 30,000 people, excluding slaves. “By the end of the month I will have a real price quotation, which I will show to a reliable and important financier who will have to say whether he will take part and who will find sponsors. In March we will know for certain whether there will be a patron.”.
